I've found a new 2006 MD90B at a great price. I was wondering if there are any major differences between the 2006 model year and the most current models. Thanks for any assistance!

The B model is the current production. For 2011 units, there will be better fuel economy, but he B is a solid motor.

Thank you, Paul. The better fuel economy you mention for 2011 units...is that for all tldi units or just the 90? What did they do? As sweet a deal as the 90 I found is, a 70 would be more appropriate for my boat. I realize both units weigh the same but I'd imagine the 90 would consume substantially more fuel.

The 70 and the 90 are the same family. So they are the same motors -- same engine block, pistons, fuel feed pump, etc. But the 90 has a different ECU (the brain for everything) and a different throttle body. Essentially the 70 is a de-tuned 90. The 2011 model is actually a 75 hp unit, and is still based on the same 70/90 frame. They get the extra 5 hp and improved relative fuel economy because of improvements in the ECU.
