2006 johnson 150 question

I bought a used johnson 150 a few years back. Aside from the warm start heat soak issue i love the motor. My question is it has an OIS oiling system which to me looks like the old VRO system. Is that correct? If so, were all the kinks worked out by 2006 or should i consider premixing oil?

Please check this again----------OIS referred to the ignition system, not the same as the VRO oiling system.

You're thinking of OMS which was a straight 50:1 mix which came out in about 1996 or so. If it was my mtr I'd disconnect oil system and mix the fuel 50:1.

Yes OMS pump. My bad. So is a 2006 OMS pump the same as a VRO pump that has well documented issues or all the bugs worked out by 2006?

I would have to say no. They can still fail on the oil side. JMHO.
