Hello, I'm new to the board and looking for help. About three years ago I bought a 2006 pontoon boat with a Honda BF 75. The original owner bought the boat new. Unfortunately shortly after he purchased the boat his wife became sick and passed away. The boat did not get used much. The original owner then had the carbs rebuilt due to sitting. Shortly after that the owner got sick. I purchased the boat from his daughter who was handling his affairs. He passed away shortly before I took possession of the boat. I am an acquaintance of the family so I kind of know them. The boat was stored indoors for most, if not all of it life. When I bought it had +/- 10 hours on the engine. The boat was like new. After purchasing, I couldn't get it to run right so I took it to an authorized Honda dealer who also happened to be the selling dealership. They no longer sell that brand boat. I figured the carbs had to rebuilt again from sitting. After the dealer worked on it they claimed that they had removed, sonic cleaned and rebuilt the carbs 3 times but were not able to get the boat to run completely right. Better but not 100%. They told me my options were to but a new motor, have the carbs replaced or take it home and use it and run carb cleaner in the fuel and that it may correct itself over time. I should add that I don't have a whole lot of confidence in this dealership but because of where I live my choices are limited. Moving ahead, I have been using Sea Foam religiously. Year one was I little iffy running it. Lots of hesitation and surging. Year two was much better. Ran good mostly all season until the end. Then the surging and hesitation returned. This year I've only had it out one day. The first time out it ran perfect. Later that day the surging and hesitation returned. I have changed all the fuel lines and added a water/fuel separator filter. I always use fresh non-ethanol fuel. I need to get this corrected. I'm stumped. I need some help please. I really don't want to have to buy new carbs. I take my almost 3 year old grandson out on this boat I don't want to get stuck. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
