"I hope someone can help as I

"I hope someone can help as I am trying to get some information as to what could be going on with my port engine. I had two new Crusader 5.7 MPI's installed in the fall of 2006. I have less than 100 hours on them now. They ran flawlessly for the first 25 hours or so until I pushed both engines up to around 4900 rpm's for about 15 seconds (still not quite full throttle)just to open her up some, and then back down to cruising speed at around 4200 rpm's. It was less than a minute later when the port engine by itself increased in speed up to around 4600 rpm's and then down to 3800, and back up again to around 4200. This went on back and forth for about 4 minutes before leveling out. I thought it was a fluke until I took it out on subsequent trips and at any random time I would notice a surge in rpms again with port engine for a few seconds. Some times it surges up and then again it drops in rpms. The starboard engine has never done this and continues to run perfectly. My dealer is getting the program so that they can hook the engine up to the computer and see if there any codes. Has anybody seen this happen before, and if so, what was the problem? Thank you very much."

"Have you figured this out. I

"Have you figured this out. I have 2002 5.7 Crusaders and my starboard engine is doing this except it will not hold RPM's i.e. it surges down and back up but not over the original rpms. Thought it was fuel, but can't find anyone that has a clue what it is."

"I have 2002 5.7 MPI Crusaders

"I have 2002 5.7 MPI Crusaders. While on the way to the Bahamas, Starboard engine started surging but port motor was fine. Eventually Port motor experienced a huge surge. We thought it was bad fuel so decided to turn port only off to drain filters and shutting down port engine automatically shut down starboard engine and immediately all electric to the motors was lost, couldn't turn over at all as if both batteries were shot, but never had a problem before or after that experience. Genset which runs off Port battery wouldn't turnover. After getting a jump from Seatow to get Genset working,, both engines started as if no problem. Checked grounds and all I could see seemed solid and in contact. Still have surging in Starboard Motor which appears to get worse as the day goes on. Will run for 15 minutes initially then starts surging about 1000 rmps down. After weekend no loss of electric anywhere and port motor runs great. Any ideas would be helpful as just spending money chasing the ghosts."

"Yes, my dealer finally figure

"Yes, my dealer finally figured it out. I had 2 injectors that were intermittently firing and not firing, thus the unexplained rise and fall in the tachometer. He had them cleaned and the shop said they were working fine, but when re-installed and test ran, the problem happened again. After two new injectors were installed, it runs flawlessly. I think I fell victim to the ethanol syndrome. Good luck to you!"
