2006 8hp 4 Stroke Merc Carb Issue?

My 8hp Has Started Shooting Gas From The Top Line , Of The Carb. A Good Stream Too. Ive Been Reading Around That It Could Possibly Be A Stuck Float? I Took The Carb Apart , Cleaned It. No Luck. And I Was Looking For A Rebuild Kit And Couldnt Find One. How Could I Tell If The Float Is Bad?
 
guyjg , no hoses were fine. i believe it was exactly what i suspected , the float was getting stuck. i just took apart the carb and cleaned it well. seemed to solve the issue for me.
 
ok , so i went to start the engine today , and its back at it. shooting fuel from the hose i listed above. it ran for a good 15 minutes yesterday with no issues , crank it up today and after maybe a minute of running, the fuel started coming out and the engine shut off. the gas in the tank has been there for a about 2 months. is it possible something clogged and is making the float get stuck again? @guyjg
 
Could be trash but you cleaned it. I would look for a fine crack in the nipple and/or its base or the hose...usea magnifying glass and bright light,
 
Guy , have you looked at the diagram I posted ? It's the hose on top of the carb and the hose looks like maybe a vent or over flow drain. Gas isn't supposed to come out of it. It's coming from out the hose it's self not around it . Hose is perfect
 
Well then the carb has a problem. Using you engine SN you should be able to get a carb kit for it from this site. Ck above in parts search.
