This motor runs perfect until it gets hot, then it doesn’t want to idle. It will die Everytime once it’s warm unless I’m sitting there giving it throttle and it’s making it super hard to dock it. It has brand new plugs, before this it has sat around for who knows how long I just bought this boat a month ago.

Motors are often sold for a reason.------Did you clean the carburetor ?----Did you replace water pump impeller ?----If no , then the next step is a compression test.----Post the actual values here.

I ran some sea foam through it but it hasn’t gotten the whole tank through I’ve been too busy remodeling the boat —- new deck, storage compartments, paint flooring etc I’ve only gotten to take it out twice for a few hours and most of the time I was trolling. Everytime I get back to the boat dock is when it’s having problems or that’s the only time I’m noticing it because I’m staying low rpm and idle. All I’ve done is replace spark plugs, I’ve never owned a 2 stroke or an outboard motor all my experience is in four stroke atvs and cars. I will get those compression values and reply back once again. Thank you for your input.

The motor may not have a warning horn or shut down feature on overheat.-----A wise man would install a new impeller.----Cheaper than a new motor!

I just went ahead and ordered one since I’m sure it’s been ages since it’s been changed. Never heard of an impeller until now, any other preventive maintenance I should do for this motor that has sat for years. Any input is appreciated.

Is there a way I can spray some carb cleaner into the intake without removing the carb? I just want to make sure it has no fuel issues as well if I need to I’ll remove it just don’t want to tear anything up while taking it apart especially if there’s nothing wrong with it

Just a hair under 60 on both cylinders. I’m not even 100% sure it’s a 15 he just claimed 15 the model number is 015R5DR so I’m assuming 15.
