outboard sometimes wont rev past 3000 rpm, but if I turn the master battery switch off and on it clears itself. Had at shop and they can't find the problem I've read a lot about neutral switch any ideas cheers

Neutral Safety Switch could be your issue, often they get out of alignment and would limit rpms to 3000. You could also have a neutral safety switch in your throttle control.

You should be getting a 3-3 error code with a faulty neutral safety switch, misaligned and making contact sometimes, not sure if that would trigger a 3-3 code
