"only 2 or 3 years old with very low running hours and my outboard starts easily, idles smooth but stalls nearly every time i try to engage it in gear...F or R. any help?

the basics are
ck spark
ck compression on each cyl
if both ok,proceed to look at fuel prob's....usually,......gummed up carb....,if so,clean/rebuild."
