"Hello guys! Great site!! I am having 2 different problems with my 115. It is a jet and I have been fighting some power issues. Quick history, I had the impellor sharpened, the shoe ground out on the inside and had the unit shimmed to proper spec. This took care of the cavitations issues I was having and she seemed to get on step "ok" for the first few trips. Recently I have been having power issues again w/o any cavitations. The engine doesn't seem to reach its high end rmp range when under a heavy load. This happens intermittently. Sometimes she does, other times not so much. The last few times I would rev up the engine in neutral prior to putting it in gear and that seemed to help. Engine doesn't misfire and runs smooth. It to me acts like the timing is not advancing or throttle linkage is not giving me complete full throttle.

The other issues I am having is about 1 out of 20 starts she smokes alot. It is blue in color and some of the smoke even seems to come from under the engine cover. It has more of a rubber burning smell then anything? Any common problems?

when was the last time you adjusted carbs and replaced t-stat

"I've have just recently changed the engine oil and went with a 10w30 syn. oil (Mobile 1) As far as the others, never. I assumed that it was fuel injected. I also just purchased plugs, fuel filter and some of that ring free additive to run through the fuel system to clean any possible carbon build up."

No problem and thanks for the reply. I will check the oil but don't suspect to find any. The last time I checked the oil it was a tad low. I sent you the modle # as well.

remember only fill the oil half way up the dipstick, if you fill to the top your over filled"

"I would like to thanks Just in time for his help on this one. He sent me a manual to review which let to the repair. I had performed a maint tune up, spark plugs, fuel filter and water seperator. During process i kchecked the throw of the throttle and found it not opening all the way. adjusted and water tested, all is good! I also noticed that during the day and probably 30 plus starts and runs I didn't have an issues w/ the smoke. I suspect it was water?? The water seperator had rusty colored stuff in it. Thanks for the help and the replys"
