2005 Mercury 50 trim fluid type

It has a red fluid in it, I’ve heard it’s atf or did mercury make a red trim fluid. Can normal trim fluid and this be mixed together or not. I’m just trying to maybe top it off with the normal colored marine trim and tilt fluid

ATF is red. Merc trim fluid is clear...both are recommended for different engines. If its red use red.....I know of no trim fluid that is anything but clear.

I gotcha, but what atf would u think I could use for it? Like would it be best to use dexron atf or something more specific

I wouldn't have a problem with your selection on brand.

If you search using google or other search engine for the brand and what it is, you'll see 'Power Trim And Steering Fluid' on the label. That should tell you what you need to know and regular power steering fluid works fine but it's easy enough to find these brands, so if you want to use what it came with, go ahead.
