2005 Mercury 40HP ELPT

Puzzled, I have a 2005 40 HP Mercury ELPT and it will not idle in gear or out of gear. However, you can keep hitting the electric choke and she will perk back up, as well it will not rev to top end when motoring on the water. I have changed the plugs, supply hose, gas can, cleaned carbs etc. and have not found the problem, looking for any help before going to dealer.

Check your compression, first and foremost. Check for 4 sparks. By hitting the electric choke and it corrects the idle problem it seems you have blockages in the carbs. This engine idles on two cylinders. Two of the cylinders don't have an idle circuit. The not revving under load tells me the same, your carbs are blocked.
