I have a pin hole, from corrosion right over the thermastat on the engine block What is the best way to repair it? Only 400 hrs on it. Warranty expired.

You have burned a pinhole right through the block? (not just the thermostat cover).

The best way to repair is to turn the calendar back 6 years and freshwater flush after every time out.

The pinhole will be just the tip of the iceberg here. The water channels in the block are probably almost non-existant if it's eaten right through at one point (at least).

You could probably "band aid" it for the moment with some epoxy (there is an aluminum epoxy stick on the market - cut off a hunk, knead it, and then slap here on - the one I am familiar with is made by "starbrite" (I think that's the brand)).

But, the block really needs to be torn down and inspected to see if the problem can be stopped from getting any worse and properly repairing damage if possible - but you really could be on the way to a new block (or motor).

Are the anoids on the back bracket on the motor? If so it is somewhat corroded but not a lot. The engine is mostly run in brackish water in lake ponchatrain. The pen hole is 1/2 inche past the cover for the thermostat, on the block. Warranty ran out 4 months ago and they say no can replace. I have run other brand motors 10 years without this problem. The 416 hrs on mthe motor is not many hours. I flushed the engine after most all trips. Go figure.

...Warranty ran out 4 months ago and they say no can replace....

You can always call the Merc. consumer division and politely complain about it. Be persistent. You never know what they will do.
