"I have been having problems with this for 2 years and have been taking it to some local mechanics, but nothing seems to help. It will not idle correct and i have to set the idle to 1200 rpm's just to run it. Now i think i may have ruined the drive. It runs awsome at top end but almost always stalls when you engage the drive. Sometimes the idle will run as smooth as can be and wont have any problems, you can tell just by the sound of the motor that it is not going to stall when you engage it. What rpm's should it be at, and will a sledge hammer help?

I had to edit this, its a 2003 motor.

This is a tough motor to troub

This is a tough motor to troubleshoot. It is a 2+4. So is is a 2 cylinder motor at idle-1800 RPM. The idle is ~750-800 in drive.

"So set the idle to 1800 rpm's before shifting it into gear, it just seems high but i will try it. Its frustrating to run it because you never know when it is going to act up, i was in Erie Bay this weekend and it acted up at the ramp. It would not stay running."
