2005 johnson 25 hp thermostat replacement

I removed all the bolts only to find there is a wire that goes thru the cover into the cylinder head i think it's the temperature control switch does any know the procedure to deal with this? greatly appreciate all the help i can get.

Seems like I saw this question elsewhere. What is the model number of your motor? There were several 25's that year. You must have something other than what we replied about.
