2005 Honda BF225 Constant Alarm No Check Engine

Hello,

I sent a message in here a couple weeks ago but think I may have incorrectly described the symptoms I'm experiencing so going to reshare with latest updates.

I have a 2005 Honda BF225 with ~1600 hours. About a month ago, we started having issues with the buzzer/alarm going off (constant sound, not beeps) and no check engine light being illuminated. This issue would generally start 10-20 minutes into driving the boat at ~4000 rpms +- 1000 although it would also sometimes happen as soon as we started the motor. From my understanding, an alarm with no check engine light generally indicates overheat issues, although it can also be oil pressure or a sensor issue.

We noticed one exhaust manifold was much hotter than the other. Replaced the thermostats so those are balanced now and we also pulled and cleaned the poppet valves (water relief valves) and confirmed telltale is peeing. After this, took the boat out, went about 25 minutes at 4000-5000 rpm, idled for 45 minutes, and back home at 4000-5500 rpm and had no alarm come on during this. Thought the issue was resolved.

Next day, started the motor up and the alarm turned on after 1 minute of idling.

Have also replaced hp fuel filter, drained water in fuel sensor (didn't seem like any water was in there), cleared low pressure fuel filter (didn't replace filter), and we also replaced the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor was replaced about 3 weeks before the alarm first came on, but we did get a part at Oreilly's that was for a Honda accord - it had the same part number and was 1/3 of the price but worried that could be the issue. Also confirmed our indicator lights work as they all turn on for a second at ignition and all turn off (besides green oil pressure indicator which stays on).

Due to this weird behavior, I am thinking I might have a bad fuel in water sensor or some sort of other sensor issue. Just not sure where to start now that I've pretty much confirmed it is not an overheat issue.

In my previous post, I was told to look into the wiring to the alarm/horn circuit but I was never able to figure out which connector that was when actually looking at the motor. Will take another look if these symptoms still point to that (any guidance on how to find this appreciated).

Have manually pulled codes and confirmed there are no codes in the EPROM.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Your not helping yourself by starting another thread. Member @chawk_man mentioned in post 2 to look for the Yel/Grn wire connector and disconnect it.

Had a really tough time finding the alarm portion of the wiring so will need to revisit that.

Then you went on to post about the steering

If you would have found the connector this could narrow it down some
Next if you find the connector, trace the Yel/Grn wire and follow it to other locations. Like most horn/buzzers, there is one single wire that goes to several switches (oil pressure, temp, others) and anyone of them that causes a ground on the wire sounds the alarm

Hey AllDodge, you're right my apologies. I thought my information about steering may have been bad and have also done a few things on the motor since that last post, thought the best approach was to start a new thread but for next time will stick to the same thread instead of creating a new one. Will try to find the horn/alarm circuit and circle back.
