Reckless Pursuit

I just got back in from BC Canada yesterday after a 7 hr run with a 1hr break at customs.
I raised my motors to flush with fresh water and saltaway before storing when I realized I wanted to check my oils levels 1st. I lowered the engines and check the oil level. Both engines oil levels were high on the dip stick. I thought it might be because I had the motors raised so I let them sit 10 minutes. Still high so I stareted and ran them for 2-3 mins then let them rest again. Still high. I had this issue once before after the same trip a year ago but it was only one engine. I had the thermastats replaced on both thinking that that was the problem. I have had no other isuues all winter with oil levels on shorter trips 2hr +-.
I left the engines down over night and will check them again tonight.
Also oil smelled like oil I did not smell gas. Oil smelled warm but not burnt. Oil was not foamy.
Any Ideas or expieriences would be helpfull.
