Hi guys, I bought a 2005 Merc 15 HP 2-stroke in the Spring that the owner claimed ran, but couldn't start it. I bought it and rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the thermostat, and changed the impeller with a brand new water pump kit. Now it runs great, but when I start the motor it pumps water very weakly until it heats up and the thermostat opens up, then it pumps a strong stream of warm/hot water.
Is this normal? With most outboards I've used, they all pump a strong stream of water all the time. I also don't remember the water being so hot coming out of the outboard, but I'm not sure.
Any advice or thoughts?
