I bought this engine off Ebay and had a Merc shop start it up and run it. It seemed fine. I took it back home and had it mounted on the boat. Now it starts up, but idles really fast. None of the gauges work on the boat as it has the white back VDO smartcraft which were only good for 2001 as I understand, so I can not tell how fast it is running. When trying to figure out why the guage was not working I noticed someone forced the diag connector into the smartcraft connection.I unhooked it and now the idles is way too high. I am also thinking the throttle linkage might be the issue.
