2004 Mercury Optimax 115 HP

I'm having a problem with my Mercury outboard and need some suggestions. When I take off full throttle and the boat plains, I'd say maybe 2-4 seconds after it plains a continuous beep goes off and stays on. It'll cut off once I idle the boat. Get this, I can take off full throttle and before the beep will even come on I will pull the control handle back toward neutral just a little bit and the beep won't come on. But if I slightly touch it it'll come on and go off, depending if I'm moving the control handle back and forth. A friend came over and we discovered that my belt was cracked etc, there was a lot of debris right under the belt. Other than that the engine runs fine and I only hear a continuous beep when I open her up. Has anyone else had a problem like this. Please help! Also he had a few devices to where he could read the temp etc and it wasn't running hot.
