#1 cylinder will say Mercosil by the throttle linkage.
That leg should bolt on to the 87 motor. Just check the driveshaft splines but I am pretty sure they are the same.So here is an update. (i like posts with conclusions)
I had a look at a 87 mariner and the block was not a mercosil so i opted to keep looking.
Although the blocks seemed to be similar the controls are quite different as you mentioned.
the next option i have is:
On my 2004 mercury jet 20/25.
Will that jet leg bolt on to any other motor than a 25?
(maybe i should start a new thread on this)
