2004 merc 350 MPI riser question

i have a 2004 merc MPI engine and i believe they are original manifolds/elbow/risers. they all look clean but i will change the manifolds and elbows out regardless but the risers are the question. they look real clean on both sides. do you guys change these all the time or is it on an as needed basis? they list for 822 for the 2 risers, i think thats obsurd.

Are you in saltwater or fresh? I would inspect first Barr makes high quality replacements that may save a few bucks vs merc if you are concerned enough to change the manifolds and elbows i would do the risers too

the boat is a lake boat. the reason for changing them is the age.
There is no need to change them ( manifolds, risers, or elbows) due to age in a freshwater application unless freeze damaged. In freshwater lake applications normally they last life of the boat. Ive had boats over 30 years old on original manifolds in fresh water.

normal failure is corrosion or clogging in saltwater which is dangerous as it can leak water into engine ruining it…salt guys change theirs every 5-7 years.

if yours are apart change the gaskets and go boating…

Ayuh,..... Exactly,..... In freshwater, they don't rot out, but are subject to freeze cracks if not drained in winter,......

My ole houseboat had 50 year old exhaust, that were as good as new, in Lake Ontario,....
