2004 F150TXRC no power?

Hello all. I have a 2004 F150TXCR that has no power. It runs smooth, not missing just no power like its starving for fuel. Last year I replaced the electric fuel pump due to a no fuel pressure situation with a new Yamaha pump and strainer. Less than 2 hours runtime on new pump. I have checked the oil for fuel smell to see if mechanical fuel pump diaphram was bad-oil clean and no fuel smell. Plugs look good. Fuel filter is clean and I could blow thru it. The fuel is new.

Any ideas?

Is there a scan tool I can buy that can scan this thing?

Thanks in advance Rob

I will try to describe the no power situation better. Under load I can not get the engine to rev past 2000 rpms. Sitting at the dock in neutral I can manually rev engine well above 4000 and probably more if I dare. Throttle linkage is opening the throttle to WOT. I took boat out and with a buddy at the helm I checked to make sure is was moving to WOT=it is so its not an issue with the controls. Boat is a 24' Aluminium open skiff=not very heavy. It used to haul a**. My 10 horse Honda kicker can push the boat faster then the 150 wright now.

Any help is much appreciated Rob.

I think you have a fuel restriction somewhere. Yet another ethanol gas problem. It is easy to rev an engine in neutral to 4000 RPM as there is no load on it but under a load in gear she needs serious fuel fed to her to reach 4000 RPM. Assuming you've checked for spark in all cylinders, I can almost guarantee your problem is a clogged filter somewhere in the line or clogged injectors after all filters. See my prior post to "Need Help" and follow the same process. Work your way through all filters you can see and confirm easy free fuel flow. If no restriction, in what you can see, your hidden high pressure fuel filter is in the VST tank attached to the base of the high pressure fuel pump. I bet it is clogged. If that isn't clogged, it is probably clogged fuel injectors... Pull them and send them out for a cleaning. I used fuelinjectorman.com in Florida who had the best price of anyone I could find on the net. If using ethanol gas, always use green Marine Stabil in your gas. All the time. Not just for winter storage. Better yet, pay the extra $ and get non-ethanol gas if available in your area and see none of these problems.

I bet he has plenty of pressure at idle and when he takes it out and opens the throttle the pressure drops like a rock. If it doesn't, its fouled injectors.

I will hook up fuel pressure gauge and see what pressure is. Does anybody know the fuel pressure spec? I didnt consider it being a fuel pressure issue because less then 2 hours of run time ago I replaced the electric fuel pump and strainer(the one under the intake manifold in the small fuel tank) with a "genuine Yamaha" pump and strainer. That was replaced due to a water in fuel issue that caused that pump to corrode badly and no fuel pressure. At that time I cleaned fuel tank and installed a "Racor" fuel/water seperator.

I have been a ASE certified master auto and light truck mech for 22 years but I am not a boat guy and I dont claim to know everything like some mechanics, I just get conned into fixing all my friends boats.

Thanks for the input and I will report back Rob
