"I have twin 8.1 Crusaders in a 2004 Hackercraft. The boat has been sitting for about a year. I am trying to commission the boat and the port engine dogs out when pushed. It idles beautifly, but has no power and occasionally backfires. I looked at the paper filter in the FCC, looks good. I removed the puck filter and the screen is cleen as a whistle. Is there another filter I'm missing here? There are 2 fuel tanks and they are unfortunatly full of year old gas. Other engine seems to run normally. I thought I would check the fuel pressure, don't know what tht is supposed to be. Any help would be appreciated."

Is the fuel E-10? If so you should pump all the gas out and start with fresh plus grade fuel E-free if possible

"New fuel sure would help.

You can use the other engine to get a reference for the fuel pressure...there are a few different versions of injections that run from ~ 13 to 38 psi in the rails.

You may also want to check the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs to make sure the ignition system is a-o-k; especially if you can't remembebr the last time they were checked/changed."

"Just a quick question: Are there parts of the country that still have NON-ethanol gasolines available? If so, what is the price per gallon? Today on Route 9 in Englishtown....$2.03/g"

$2.03? I just fiiled the car at $2.55 and thaought I was getting a hell of a deal. Here in Maine the land of the tax and the home of the fee the only fuel available is the e-10 crap.

"I think that's true just about everywhere in the USA. We paid $2.29 in Elkton for car gas, and about $2.90 for marine stuff. Ironically, it would be a lot worse if the economy was doing well.

"Jeff,

I have to believe you are right. Somewhere in the back of my head it seems to be a huge manipulation.

Paul,

My wifes family is from northern Vermont for 35 years we have made that 400 mile trip and gas has ranged from .28 to 3.80. On place in St. Albans always had a "reasonable" cost about 10% than those towns with 200-300 people. Her Mom told us last week it was $2.58. We used to go into Canada and by that Imperial gallon for a few years...only 7 miles away BUT nowadays you need a passport. Mine expired in 1974. Hey, their loss !

Is there any reason other than $$$ that gas boats are not exempt from taxes like diesel?"
