Working on a 5.0 GL (2 bbl Holley). The engine died on the river after running all day. Tried to restart but it wouldn't run but for a fuel seconds at a time. Suspected a fuel starvation issue but found that the fuel pump was pumping (at least while cranking it) and the fuel bowl was full. Accelerator pump was pumping as well. The relays (2) and the fuses tested good for continuity as did the ignition switch. I also discovered that the coil was getting power only when cranking as well, not when the ignition was just on. I have heard that a diode in the alternator can cause this. Is there something else too?
