2004 25hp 2 stroke problem

My mercury 25 2-stroke motor will start up but will only continue to run as long as you pump the bulb. Replaced the fuel line and bulb and now it runs a little better before it dies, if you stop pumping the bulb, it revs very high then cuts out. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to try next?

Sounds like the fuel pump diaphragm is either shot or on it's last legs.

Fuel pump service parts from Merc would be "next" on my to do list.

There is not a specific fuel pump kit (the parts are available individually or as part of the entire carb kit which goes for about 80 bucks - the diaphragm/gasket is about 30 bucks) - find a local Merc dealer, take your serial number, and they should be able to hook you up with parts if you can do the repairs yourself.

If you can't, count on $150-200 bucks to have the service done at a shop - they will likely want to rebuild the entire carb (which probably wouldn't hurt).
