Hey guys 2 questions, I just purchased a 1988 259 Grady White Trophy Pro with twin 200hp HPDI's. The motors have about 400 hours on them, they start up great, run nice but I have run into two small issues. I am not familiar at all on the systems of these motors since these are my first yamaha's. First issue is the stbd low oil alarm will come on because the oil in the remote tank is not transfering into the small tank attached to the motor under the cowling, the sensor was replaced but that did not fix it. I don't know if there is a pump in the remote tank that may not be working. Second issue is the I know the motors are propped wrong (19) because I'm only getting about 4100 rpms on the port, and about 3500 on the stbd, at WOT. But I'm wondering why I'm not getting the extra RPM's on the stbd motor. The boat runs straight and doesn't pull to either side at WOT. The previous owner seems to think it may be the throttle cable, any ideas?

First you need to remove both remote oil tanks clean them and replace the filter in the bottom. This is most likely the reason for no oil transfer.

Second You need to check your stbd engine completely. Compression, Plugs filters and so on. Also with the engine off, push the throttle wide open, remove the throttle plate cover and see the plates are wide open.

If the Stbd engine will only rev to 3500 it is the reason why the port is only revving to 4100, it's holding it back.

Fooled around with it today and I need to get a multi meter and read it out. The pump does not come on in the stbd tank when the emergency switch is actuated. Port works just fine, I connected the port connector to the stbd tank and got nothing. My guess is the pump is shot but I wanna read out the wiring first just to make sure I'm getting 12v to the pump. Not sure what you mean by the throttle plate cover?

The intake air box.

Still trying to figure this oil pump out. I applied 12v directly to the pump and heard it kick on and hum. Not sure if it was actually pumping the oil but it did come on. Checked continuity on the emergency switch, and the sensor on the engine mounted tank. All checked good. Looked for broken wires, loose connections, ect and everything looked good. I'm stumped, anyone have any suggestions. All filters are clean also.

Where is the trim sender located. I didn't see that in the schematic but at this point I'm willing to check anything. I relized I only check continuity on the sensor in the full position so I need to go through and read out the different positions. What I don't understand is why the pump doesn't kick on with the emergency switch.
