This problem began intermittently a whole back. Changing spark plugs seemed to help but now it runs bad all the time. Recent carb clean and tune, new plugs, fuel pump and filter. Please see attached videos. Trying to avoid a costly repower, and help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!

Reving a motor in neutral serves no purpose whatsoever. I would suggest that you not do that.

I am guessing that the motor is in RPM reduction mode. Trying to save itself from either what it thinks is low oil or over temperature. Real or imagined. If you had a Yamaha tachometer connected to the motor it would tell you why it was in RPM reduction mode.

I had filled it with 2 stroke but the alarm went off briefly, and has gone off randomly. It just got a new impeller. The telltale is strong and not hot. I don't have access to a yamaha tachometer. Is there a list of reasons for RPM reduction mode and troubleshooting solutions online?

Thanks for your response!
