2003 Mercury Four Stroke Heater Wire Location?

Hi all, I have a Four Stroke 2003 Mercury 75 Hp outboard (just got it) I have it running but cant find a wire that sends the signal to my Temperature Gauge.

The book says it should be a TAN coloured wire from the engine but I can't see one under the cowl.

There is a heat sensor on the engine block that has one Black and one Black/Yellow connected to it but the book says I should have a TAN wire to connect to the Temperature Gauge.

Anyone have any clues.

The Serial number is: OT 807538
and the Model number is: 1F75412CD

Is anyone interested in helping out before I take the boat and engine to the repair place for a costly fix?
