I have been noticing my volt gauge has been slowly dropping over the last few rides. I charged the battery and noticed that it is staying at about 12-13 volts. Sometimes dropping to 10. Thought it was the battery and had it checked. Battery was bad so I replaced it. Then I was on the lake this weekend when the volt gauge was still a little over 12. We slowly went around the lake until dusk and then I turned on the lights for about a half hour was going back to the dock when the engine killed. No power and noticed slight burning smell and smoke from engine compartment. Took engine cover off and didn't notice and burnt wires. Checked the oil and it is good. Can you tell me if that was the voltage regulator? Any advice would be appreciated??
