"I have a 2003 Mercury 125 that is having ignition problems, I think. The engine will crank and run for 2 to 3 seconds and then die. I had a mechanic look at it and it turned out to be the ignition switch, which I replaced and the problem was solved. The third time out and the problem seems to have re-occurred with the same symptoms.
My thought is that either I have something knocking the ignition out or I just had the bad luck of purchasing a sub-par ignition switch that has already gone out. What could possibly knock out an ignition switch? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated."
