This now the fourth attempt at posting this. I am new to the forum and have searched for my particular problem with no luck.
My water pump quit and the motor over heated. It still starts first pull and runs great. I have rebuilt the pump twice with the full kit and it's been in the shop twice with no luck. The pump isn't pumping.
This is my trouble shooting thus far.
I removed the thermostat and the foot. I put the foot in a bucket of water level with pump housing. I then attached a three foot hose to the output of the pump and ran a drill on the drive shaft at low speed clockwise. The pump worked fine. Then I hooked a hose to a low pressure water suppl and the copper tube running up the leg to the power head. That worked fine as water came out the tell tale and the exhaust proving no blockage.
Then I hooked the hose from the output of the pump to the copper tube while leaving the foot detached. I ran the drill clockwise at varying speeds and it worked fine again with water coming out where it should.
I bolted the foot back to the leg ensuring the copper tube went in the grommet and leaving the thermostat out. I put the motor in a garbage can with the water level well above the pump. No water being pumped but it is pumping air out of the tell tale. I did this procedure ten times with exactly the same results.
I thought some how there was an air lock but if that were the case it wouldn't pump air either.
Any help appreciated, Clark
