2003 glastron wont start please help

I have a 2003 glastron volvo penta 3.0 had it out yesterday running fine, stopped and drifted for a while, when i went to turn it back on i just get a spinning sound and it wont start. I took starter to auto part store and they say it tested out fine. After charging battery for few hours it started to turn over but just tried again and same spinning sound. Teeth look fine on fly wheel also. What could be the cause?

If the starter spins but the engine does not turn, then I would say the starter solenoid (Bendix) is your problem.

K thanks, do u think they would know that at the auto parts store? When they hooked it up the gear was spinning.

It may spin, but if the pinion is not driven into the flywheel then the starter will move nothing.

You may also want to check that the ground cable between the engine and the battery is properly bonded on both sides (no corrosion, loose connection, etc).
