question comes from winterizing and draining gear lube. boat was pulled and sat a week on the trailer, I drained the outdrive as I have always done. The first 6 to 8 oz. of gear lube was green and cloudy then the fluid change back to the translucent dark green/blue it should be. I am thinking seals? lower seal because of the change in color? Am I correct any ideas.

I would drain the unit completely and remove it from the boat. If you have a garage, hang it from the ceiling. Pump about 15lbs of air pressure into the drive and look for the leak. A cooling system tester with a Gear oil fill pump end will do the trick.

Agree with Chris,

Water is heavier than oil that is why it was at the bottom........no other reason. If the leaking seal is in the lower half it is strictly circumstance.
