2003 60HP Yamaha 4 Stroke Problems

My Father's 60 HP 4 cycle has been used very little. It will start and idle just fine but will not accelerate, has very little power, misses, etc.

My thinking is that due to a lack of use, the carbs are dirty from fuel setting, alcohol, additives, etc.

I don't want to run it if it is too lean and possible hurt the engine, but am wondering if it is possible to idle or spray some cleaner through the engine, allow it to sit for a few days, and loosen up any clogs.

Any other opinions are appreciated if you have seen this before.

Thanks

Chris, thanks so much. My Father and I are fairly mechanical (especially him). But to be honest we do not know a lot about these outboards. Is this something we can do or does it require special tools, electronics, gauges, etc.?

Thanks

It will just be a matter of you taking some photos for reference and removing the carbs. Disassemble them one at a time clean and reassemble. Then move on to the next one.
