2003 50HP 2 Stroke "Starter Relay Issue"?

I had to replace both dead batteries and now all I get is a "Click" at the Starter Relay, when turning the key. Before the batteries died (they were 2020 purchases), I would crank her monthly if not in use. Of course, not much use this past hunting season, Oct thru Jan as I was not home then.

I have verified: 1) the new batteries are fully charged, 2) the Safety Lanyard is fully attached, 3) the motor is not tilted, 4) the throttle is in neutral, and the inline fuse is good. May be other checks I'm not familiar with.

But I think the Starter Relay is my issue (?). The label on the Starter Relay states "Relay MS5C-311-1 12V".

I was going to purchase one online and, in the specifications, it stated NORMALLY OPEN.

1st, do you'll think it's the Starter Relay and 2nd, would it be Normally Open?

P.S. I checked the forums and didn't see my specific issue mentioned.

Thanks in advance.

The starter relay is normally open. It closes when the key is turned to the start position. The relay contacts closing allows current from the battery to flow to the starter motor. At which time the starter motor cranks the motor.

Any markings on the relay would be the relay maker markings. Replacement parts are usually ordered under the Yamaha part number.

Thank you, Boscoe! I'm going to order the part. Also, thanks for the Quick response and diagram.
Now if I can figure how to get the little black lead unbolted from the back.

Before ordering, why not test it? Why do you assume the starter relay and not the starter? To test the solenoid, you simply put the red lead of the volt meter on the main wire that goes to the starter and put the black lead on a good ground and have someone turn the key to start. Obviously, there should be 12 volts going to the starter. If that works, bypass the solenoid and send 12v directly to the starter and see if it spins freely.

Boscoe and Halbrodmann, thank you for the responses.
Do you have any pictures or references on the wire connections on the Starter Relay (SR)? Any would be deeply appreciated. I took some which I thought would be a good reference but, they were not! I completed some other projects which were in the works before the Starter Relay (SR) replacement and by the time I finished the other projects, I have forgot how the wiring was connected.
