2002 Yamaha T8 cooling water

I have a 2002 Yamaha T8 outboard. Replaced the impeller and when I re-assembled it, I got no water out of the tell tale. Removed the lower unit. Rigged a hose to the water tube and got good water flow out the tell tale. Rigged an electric drill to the drive shaft and a hose to the water pump discharge with the lower unit submerged, got good water flow out the hose. Re-installed the lower unit and ran the motor. Still no water out of the tell tale. My conclusion is that I must have a problem with the connector between the pump discharge and the water pipe. Anyone have a suggestion of what to do next?
