"I am having a small problem with one of my 115 Yammies. The engine idles fine, runs fine, except it has lost top end rpms. I have fitted new plugs, change my main fuel filter and the little one on the o/b, except for the vst filter??. If the boat is only lightly loaded and the bad motor is trimmed right out, then i will nearly gain 5800, but trim the motor in as the other is and the rpms will fall back. If the boat is loaded then it usually will only run up to 4500 rpms, if I pump the throttle back and forth quickly, it will jump 300-400 rpms, then quickly come back to 4500.
My mechanic here flicked the pressure sensor wires with his finger whilst running and it gained max rpms, this lasted for approx 30 mins, then back to lost rpms. I have changed the Pressure sensor from the good motor to the bad, with no response to the problem.
If i jump on both throttles from still, the good motor races up to 5000rpms whilst the bad motor is still at 4000 rpms slowly catching up...
There does seem to be more exuast color coming from the bad motor, seemingly white smoke,
Motors have only 350 hrs ...
I live in an isolated area and am having troble in gaining a decent Yamaha Mechanic who is willing to travel,
Cheers Michael"
