2002 Yamaha 8HP 4 stroke flutter problem help

Idles OK, but when you up the throttle, it flutters in one spot and will die if left there. If you past the flutter spot it takes off and runs fine.

Have you cleaned the fuel filter? I had similiar problem (but on a 2 stroke) turned out to be the fuel pump needed new diaphram and filter cleaning.
