"I have a 2002 Bayliner with the 350 mag mpi engine and at high rpm the engine is over heating, it is fresh water cooled engine and I suspect there is a blockage in the sea water flow. The Rinda handheld scaner shows the sea water pump pressure to be 11psi at idle and 35psi at 3500rpm, the spec in the Rinda is 0.5 to 15psi, where would the most common area of blockage be? The risers and heat exchanger are good and it has a brandnew sea water pump.."

you may have a clogged up heat

you may have a clogged up heat exchanger - thus reducing its efficiency. Worth removing and cleaning it out.

"Check the seawater inlet hose

"Check the seawater inlet hose for a kink or flat spot that restricts water flow. If you have a serpentine belt, make sure the belt tensioner is working; circulating pump may be slipping at high RPMs."

"Normal seawater pump pressure

"Normal seawater pump pressure is 2-3 PSI at idle. You either have a bad pressure sensor or a restriction.

An inlet restriction won't cause high pressure, but clogged raw water passage of the heat exchanger could. If you know the risers/elbows are not restricted the heat excahnger is a good place to start. Pull off the end caps and inspect.

"The risers are good, the heat

"The risers are good, the heat exchange is good and the pressure sensor is new. I am suspecting a restriction in the P/S cooler since it is the only other metal part on line. What can you tell me about the water distribution part? What does this part do and could it go bad?"
