"I'm having an issue with my 2002 496 Mercruiser.
When running for about 20 minutes, engine tends to miss, or acts likei it is loading up even though it is fuel injected. I've changed both fuel filters, etc. Also , changed spark plugs, did compression test and still can't figure this out. I'm wondering if this could be a bad coil, or even a fauly fuel pump?
Any ideas what I can do next?

Coils sometimes do fail when they heat up. Does it run normally after a cool down period? I would take a timing light with me and when it acts up check to see if there is spark (check each plug wire because one cylinder could be misfiring). This will tell you if it is a ignition problem or not.

Is the throttle body throat clean? A small amount of grime will affect operation. How about the IAC or Idle Control Motor? ONLY USE Throttle body cleaner and NOT CARB cleaner. The TB has a special coating on it that carb cleaner will remove.
