2002 Johnson 40hp 2stroke Jet: Half power problem

This motor ran fine for a long time and then one day on the water at full throttle it started to run like half power. Now every time I try it the motor comes up to full throttle and seems to be running fine but then after like 3 seconds it cuts to half power. I changed plugs and did not fix it. I have replaced the tank and all lines and fuel connections still did not fix. I then rebuilt the fuel pump and still the same thing. I haven't tore the carbs apart yet. I read somewhere that the problem might be the coil. Anybody have any ideas of what else could be the problem

The simple " no money / little time spent steps " are # 1 is to check spark on both leads.--Spark must jump a gap of 7/16" or better.----# 2--You can run with a timing light to pinpoint the cylinder that may be loosing spark.-------Check the pins and sockets in the plug in connecters to the powerpack.
