2002 9.9 4 stroke

Hi All,
This engine sat for 5 years and is now running. When running in a barrel, there is a high pressure stream of water coming from the side port. But very little water from the rear exhaust port (spitting). Is this normal?

I suppose the exhaust port you are talking about is above the water line ?

That is the idle exhaust port. If you were to cover that port with your hand or finger the exhaust would exit through the prop.

If you have a steady high output at the tell tale. You have good water circulation
