Hey guys need some advice regarding above motor. I recently purchased a boat with twin 2002 225 optimaxs with approx 450 hrs each. The previous owner had be running cheap stock standard two stroke oil through them so i decided to drain the remote and engine mounted oil tanks and refill with optimax oil. I also replaced the oil lines from the remote tank to the motor. From what i understand to bleed the first part of the system i just crack the oil tank cap on the motor, start the engine and the tank should become pressurized and begin pumping oil. Now what i am unsure about is priming from the engine mounted tank onwards. Is the only way to do this by hooking up to a computer or putting the motor back into break in mode that should prime the oil pump by itself. I did try this by using the key on into/out of gear method 3-5 times but i dont hear any pumps priming or noise from the engine. Not sure where to go from here.??? I live in remote Australia -great fishing but no mercury mechanics close by.
