I had already did a remanufacture or better rebuild of motor took care of corroded stuff. A local Yamaha g man told me I needed exhaust back pressure. So before I dragged it across town. Try running it in the water. He said it can not be ran on a garden hose like most motors. This one has to have the back pressure from the water on the exhaust. Let me tell you he was right. This was my problem who would have guessed that. Thank you Greg in Portland oregon2002 F225. HAVE YOU CHECKED FOR THE CORRODED EXHAUST PROBLEM? One of the symptoms of the corroded exhaust problem is bad idle, and your 2002 is certainly at risk of this 'free feature' that Yamaha delivered with 1000's of F225's and F200's etc. The bad news is that the fix is expensive, and running your engine with the corrosion in it can destroy it.
