1st let me say this is my 1st post
I have a 2003 Mercury/Tracker 90hp 2stroke, ser#OT699752. The bearing carrier tabs snapped and had to replace forward and pinion gear. Team mate bought a complete LU(same 2.31. gear ratio that came off a 2002 Mercury 90hp 2 stroke. Everything fits as it should(to the best of my knowledge) however, I can't get the bearing carrier to seat properly?? It sticks out maybe 1/8 or a little more??
1) is there any difference in parts from 2002-2003? I could find any and there were plenty of part#'s superseding #'s and comparable.
2) is it just the gears not lining up properly??
Any advice/correct information would be greatly appreciated!!
P.S Is their a specific torque for the threaded insearts and nuts? Can you just replace inserts with normal stainless bolts instead of the inserts? Thanks again!!
