2002 150hp ficht power tilt solutions dont fit problem

Help. Power tilt doesnt work up or down. Have replaced all 5 relays. Have replaced trailer tilt switch. Have replaced trim stop switch. Have bench tested all of above and is ok. If I bypass switches and relays direct to battery to motor leads tilt goes up or down by modulaing + -. However if I voltage test plug off power panel the voltage does not modulate through switch. Anyone have any ideas.

have you looked closely for an inline fuse?

I have checked all fuses in the power panel next to the relays
A wiring diagram seems to indicate some sort of diode in line but I dont know what it looks like if there. Have lookd all over the wiring harnes and did find one inline fuse it bench tested ok.
 
I don't have the wiring diagram for that 2002 PTT setup, however.... five (5) fuses?? The PTT systems have always incorporated just two (2) fuses for the PTT system... Other members can bring me up to date on this 2002 model... still a two (2) relay system??

If so... the electric PTT motor is a dual polarity electric motor, meaning if vvoltage applied to the two wires of the electric motor make it run in one direction, it will most assuredly run in the opposite direction. This being said, and noting that "rfishingpro" has applied voltage directly to the electric motor which resulted in the unit running both "up" and "down"... both the electric motor and the entire hydraulic system is okay.

Double check to make sure that battery voltage, that is the full battery voltage of 12 volts is being supplied to the PTT switch(s), keeping in mind that one can register 12 volts from a series of flashlite batteries BUT that "flashlight" voltage (voltage drop) is not going to operate the PTT setup... meaning to check that all connections, terminals, etc are clean and tight.

If the PTT system is still a two (2) relay system, locate the two relays that pertain to the setup. Do they click in when the PTT switch is engaged? If so, check for a bad connection at this relay area... dirty, corroded, whatever as the next area is the electric motor and we know that's okay.
 
My previous reply (#6)... The mention of "fuses" was made in error. It should have read as "relays". Apparently I was having a senior moment, sorry.

Batteries are fully charged. Relays click. Saw on another board problems with solder weldsIin poer fistribution plate 586736. Have removed plate but aspears to be sealed unit ancant look at internal solder joints/welds. Anyonr know how to bench test distribution panel? Thanks for the help. Working on this today saturday.
 
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hopefully I can locate a wiring diagram so I can better understand that new setup.
 
Guys have taken that PDP panel apart and found loose solder connections. They repaired them and all was fine. I guess they're a bit**h to get apart but it can be done.

I was considering prying it apart but it appears to be plastic welded. I asked earlier if there was axway to bench test the pdp? Im hesitant to possibly break the pdp open and then discover that it is not the pdp. Those suckers are too expensive to play swap the part until I find the right one. By the way friend of mine told me about this site. What a great resource. Thanks.
 
Go back through the posts on here as I know it's been done.

Found the reference u suggested eith your handle associated. Have tried tomesdsge guy. Maybe ill get a reply. But he seems to hsve bot a new one and only afterwards pried open the old one. Must be a way to bench test the pdp.

Havent sprung for the pdp. Did find another relay. A 586397 looks likr a 70 amp. Not on the pdp. Anyone know if this has something to do with tilt?motor still works if I diect wire and modulate pwr by hand. Help.
 
Hey, found a wiring diagram by googling "2003 150hp power distribution panel wiring diagram" wrong year but it gave me the info I needed to permit me to bench test the pdp. Determined that one male plug end where the lead from the power tilt plugged into was not working. Then, after discovering a company that will rebuild pdp's took a leap of faith and used a box cutter to CAREFULLY pry open the box. Kinda creepy actually as there was some sort of clear gel all over the internal connections of the circuit board. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THAT GEL LIKE MATERIAL IS? I THINK I NEED TO REPLACE SOME. ALSO, WHAT IS THE GLUE THEY USE TO HOLD THE TWO PARTS TOGETHER? Of significant interest in fixing the part, I discovered a clearly defective solder joint that was not making a continuity connection to the male plug!!! Eureka I believe. Have spot soldered the point and now need to reassemble but not sure what GLUE to use to put two halves together. Frankly, it was sort of like rubber cement but wrong color and the heat generated in the engines I'm sure they wouldn't use that. Anyone know? Thanks!
