Ill get the story out of the way.....

Was cruising in last saturday when all of the sudden i lost power and heard a knock. Took a little fire it up and made it back to the ramp. Came home and checked the plugs and compression. 5 of the cylinders are fine, 1 had no compression at all. Took the head off to notice that it ran dry on that cylinder. Rings/piston are toast and so is the sleeve. We checked the reed valves, and the only thing left is maybe a clogged oil line, which is odd to me. Im just confused on what might have happened and what to do now. Ive thought about tearing it apart myself and rebuilding that cylinder, or even maybe taking out a loan and do a repower. I am on a budget, but i also guide part time and need this fixed. Just need some opinions on what i should do, and what might have happened so i can check it out. Ask me any information you need. Thank you!

Hard to tell from pics but is the cylinder damage minimal? Could a 20 or 30 over bore clean it up? If so just rebore the one hole, put in a new piston and rings and you have a cheap fix. You will have to check the crank for damage too before you really know how expensive a repair you are into. The no oil issue still has to be found. I've seen plugged oil lines from old oil gelling before. I cleaned my oil tank last year and was surprised by how much crap was in it...and I'm careful when filling. I now pour my oil through a painters filter every time.
