2001 Yamaha 115 HP Acceleration Problem.

My boat is 19' Century center console, when I'm on the water with engaging I accelerate it and it sound normal very strong but when I'm running an it at 2,000 RPM is fine in Idle speed but when I give it more gas it won't pick up more speed it sounds like there is something holding an it back, I think it could be the impeller so I wanted to see if I could get some more suggestions from some that knows more about thanks.

Are you the original owner of the boat ? Is this lack of performance something new that just happened? It could be several things. Like fuel pump going bad, bad plug or plug wire, over propped.... etc. The impeller wouldn't hold it back. If you had an overheating issue it might be the impeller but not a bogging issue. PM me your email and I'll send you the service manual for it so you get an idea of what to look for.

Do you have a fuel/water separator? If not, get one. If so, change the filter and try again. I had the same problem and it was some water in the fuel.

YES!!!!! I had this start late last season on mine, same motor same year same issue, 66hrs run time. I took it in to a dealer after trying several things. They said they couldn't replicate the problem in the shop but said several people with this motor have had the issue. New Plugs is all thay would say. Put new plugs in and took her out yesterday,,,,, same issue. I'm now thinking it may be injectors. I'm really worried about going on the river as i don't know if this motor is going to give up on me completely. I'm looking for help also.
