Hi y'all. Hope one of you motor gurus can give me a clue as to what might have happened to my kicker. My fishing boat has a 2001 Yamaha T8 (T8PLR) 8hp 4-stroke kicker that I rarely use. It has very low hours, despite being 24 years old. I normally start it for a while, each time I'm on the water to keep the carb clean, but got a bit complacent. After a year or more of non-use, I again started it up. It ran find for a short while, and then overheated- billowing a bit of smoke in the process. I shut her down, and later dropped the lower unit finding a roasted water pump. I replaced the pump and reassembled the lower unit. It now starts and runs well, but instead of 'peeing', water is gushing out the front of the upper case (see pic). It doesn't seem to be leaking oil, and the oil doesn't appear to have water in it. I'm guessing I'll need to pull the power head, and maybe the lower unit, and have look in the upper case? Any thoughts as to what might have happened here? Appreciate any info or advice you can lend!!
