Seeking advice.
2001 Mercury 40hp EFI.
Randomly wouldn't start after shutting off briefly to go for a swim. Mechanic diagnosed all your standard issues and came up with nothing. Hired dealer to use computer and check for codes, couldn't read any just faulted. Mechanic tried another wiring harness and bypassing the harness all together still wouldn't run. Then we replaced the computer with a used one off of ebay matching part number. Great! Boat runs. Not so great boat runs awful backfiring and about 50% power. Throwing an alarm 3 beeps every 5 minutes. Dealer came back used scan tool and throwing a fault for injector #4 open. Problem is it's a 3 cylinder and only has 3 injectors according to dealership. My local mechanic looked and also added the charging system isn't working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated we are all sort of stumped. T.I.A.
